Mission Statement: Who We Are and What We Do
The San Fernando Valley Psychological Association is a chapter of the California Psychological Association.
Our activities are specifically local to the San Fernando Valley.
| GOAL: | Our goal is to disseminate information and promote the benefits of psychology to the public, and to provide professional and networking opportunities to the local psychological community. |
|
| COMPOSITION: | We are composed of psychologists, working in a variety of settings, including private practice offices, academic institutions, agencies, schools and clinics. Some of our members do business consulting.
Membership in the Association is voluntary. Members must meet certain criteria with respect to level of education, field of study, and responsibility to the ethical standards of our profession. |
|
| SERVICES: |
These are the services we provide:
- Continuing education opportunities for our members and other professionals in the community.
- A referral service for people who are seeking psychological services.
- A Media and Speakers Bureau to provide psychological input and information as requested, for organizations, schools, civic groups, or agencies.
- Disaster Response Committee, to provide emergency counseling in case of catastrophic events or unusual stresses affecting the local population.
We are a link between our professional community and the community at large. |
